At approximately 10 AM local time a French soldier has shot and wounded an armed suspect that was caught trying to enter the underground shop of the Louvre.
According to the Reuters, the suspect was armed with a knife and had attacked another soldier. The suspect was carrying a Briefcase; further details about the contents of which have not yet been released.
Latest reports from the Chief of Police claim the suspect yelled “Allah Akbar”
The museum and surrounding area have been cordoned off for safety fears. Visitors to the museum are being kept there.
Europe radio 1 reported that bomb disposal officers are at the scene.
France has been subject to a number of Islamist terror attacks throughout 2015 and 2016
